Terms of Service

Last updated: 27 May 2026

The short version. Use Mappd for lawful work, keep your account secure, and pay for your plan if you're on a paid tier. We provide the service as-is and do our best to keep it reliable. You always review and sign off on every transformation before you export.

1. Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Mappd, operated by Mappd Ltd ("Mappd", "we", "us"), a company registered in England & Wales. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you are using Mappd on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind that organisation.

2. The service

Mappd is a preset-first column-mapping tool. You drop in a CSV or Excel file, apply a saved recipe of mapping and transformation rules, review the change summary, and export the result. File processing happens client-side in your browser; Mappd is currently offered as a live prototype (v0.4) and we may add, change, or remove features as it develops.

3. Your account

You are responsible for the activity under your account and for keeping your login credentials secure. You must provide accurate registration information and notify us promptly at hello@mappd.co.uk of any unauthorised use. You must be at least 16 years old to use Mappd.

4. Plans, billing, and trials

  • Free plan. Available at no cost, with the limits described on our pricing page.
  • Paid plans. Pro and Team plans are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis through our payment processor, Paddle (Paddle.com Market Ltd.), who act as the Merchant of Record for sales of Mappd subscriptions. This means Paddle, not Mappd Ltd, is your contractual seller and is responsible for handling payment, sales tax, and invoicing — see Paddle's Buyer Terms. Prices on our pricing page are shown in GBP exclusive of VAT or sales tax; applicable taxes are added at checkout.
  • Free trials. Paid plans may include a free trial (currently 14 days on Mappd Pro). You will not be charged during the trial. At the end of the trial your subscription begins and your card is charged unless you cancel before the trial ends; if you cancel before the trial ends your account reverts to the Free plan and you are not charged.
  • Renewal and cancellation. Paid plans renew automatically until cancelled. You may cancel at any time from the Paddle billing portal linked inside the Mappd app; you keep paid access until the end of the current billing period, after which the account reverts to the Free plan.
  • Refunds. Our refund position is set out in our Refund Policy. Refunds are processed by Paddle as Merchant of Record.
  • Changes to pricing. We may change our prices. We will give existing subscribers reasonable notice before any change takes effect at their next renewal.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use Mappd for any unlawful purpose or to process data you do not have the right to process.
  • Attempt to disrupt, overload, probe, or gain unauthorised access to the service, its accounts, or its infrastructure.
  • Resell, rent, sublicense, or redistribute the service without our written permission.
  • Use the service to infringe the intellectual property or privacy rights of others.

5.1 No reverse engineering or copying of the software

Mappd's website, application, and underlying source code are proprietary, closed-source software. They are not open source and no part of them is licensed for reuse. You must not, and must not permit or assist any third party to:

  • copy, reproduce, scrape, republish, or distribute the source code, object code, or any other part of the Mappd software;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive or reconstruct the source code, algorithms, or underlying ideas of the service;
  • modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works based on the software;
  • access the service in order to build a competing or substantially similar product; or
  • remove, obscure, or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notice contained in the software.

These restrictions apply except, and only to the extent, that the law expressly prohibits us from restricting them (for example, certain limited interoperability rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law).

5.2 Enforcement

Any breach of this section is a material breach of these Terms and an infringement of our intellectual property rights. We may, at our discretion and without prior notice, suspend or permanently terminate your account and access to the service. We also reserve all rights and remedies available to us, including the right to seek injunctive relief, damages, and recovery of our legal costs against anyone who copies, reverse engineers, or otherwise misappropriates the Mappd software.

6. Your data and content

You retain all rights to the files you process and the recipes you create. Because file processing is client-side, the contents of your files are never sent to or stored by us. Recipes you save are stored against your account so you can reuse them. Our handling of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for reviewing the change summary and verifying every transformation before you export or rely on the output.

7. Intellectual property

Mappd, including its software, source code, design, structure, branding, and the built-in preset library, is the exclusive property of Mappd Ltd and is protected by copyright, trade secret, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Copyright © 2026 Mappd Ltd. All rights reserved.

These Terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to access and use the service as intended. They do not transfer any ownership, source code rights, or other intellectual property in Mappd to you, and all rights not expressly granted are reserved by Mappd Ltd. The permitted-use restrictions in section 5.1 form part of this clause.

8. Availability and changes

We aim to keep Mappd available and reliable, but as a prototype it is provided without an uptime guarantee unless a specific SLA is agreed in writing (as offered on the Team plan). We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service, and will give reasonable notice of material changes where practicable.

9. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties not expressly stated in these Terms, including implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. You are responsible for checking that exported data is correct for your intended use.

10. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud). Subject to that, Mappd will not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, or for loss of profits, revenue, or data. Our total aggregate liability arising from the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or £100.

11. Termination

You may stop using Mappd and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms. On termination, your right to use the service ends; provisions that by their nature should survive (such as intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will continue to apply.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales, and the courts of England & Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Continued use of Mappd after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
